1. What cookies and similar technologies are

Cookies are small text files that a website can save in your browser. “Similar technologies” include other browser storage mechanisms, such as local storage (localStorage), which this site uses instead of an actual cookie for the one thing it needs to remember (see section 3).

The party responsible for this website and for decisions about the cookies and similar technologies it uses is Elisabet Villanego Peralvo, with the contact details given in the Legal Notice (Tax ID 38868599W, email info@badavet.com).

3. Necessary storage used by Badavet

This site does not set any cookie by default. The only thing it stores, and only after you make a choice in the banner or the preferences panel, is your choice about cookies: what you accepted or rejected and when. That choice is stored in your browser’s local storage (localStorage), under the key "badavet_cookie_consent", never as a cookie and never sent to our servers.

This category is always active because, without it, we could not remember your decision and you would have to repeat it on every visit. The stored preference is valid for 12 months; after that period, or if the purposes declared in this policy change, you will be asked again.

4. External content blocked until your consent

This category covers a single technology: the embedded Google Maps map, shown on the Contact and The clinic pages. Until you accept this category (from the banner, the preferences panel, or the map’s own button), no Google Maps iframe is loaded and no connection is made to Google’s servers: instead you see a placeholder with the address as text and a button to enable it.

If you accept, your browser connects directly to Google’s servers to display the map. From that point, Google may set its own cookies and process data (such as your IP address) as an independent controller, under its own privacy policy — processing outside our control and to which we have no access.

5. Audience measurement

We use two different audience measurements, and only one of them depends on your consent.

The first is Cloudflare Web Analytics. It uses no cookies and no browser storage of any kind and, according to its provider, does not identify individuals: it counts page views, not visitors. That is why it does not appear in the preferences panel — there is nothing to consent to when nothing is stored on your device.

The second is Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited. This one does set Google’s own cookies (with names such as _ga and _ga_6BKXMFVPM6) to distinguish visits and sessions, and processes the data on Google’s infrastructure, which may process it outside the European Economic Area. That is why it is only loaded if you accept the «Analytics» category: until you do, your browser downloads and runs no Google file and makes no connection to its servers.

We use it to understand which content is useful and how people reach the site, not to profile you or show you advertising. We have not enabled advertising features or Google signals. You can withdraw your consent at any time from “Manage cookies” in the footer: when you do, we stop sending data and any analytics cookies in your browser are deleted.

6. Real inventory of cookies and storage

This table reflects what the site actually uses at the time this policy was last updated, not a generic list.

7. How to accept, reject, configure and withdraw your consent

On your first visit you will see a banner with three equally visible and accessible options: “Accept”, “Reject” and “Configure”. Accepting enables all optional categories (external content and analytics); rejecting keeps them blocked without limiting the rest of the site (phone, address, opening hours, navigation and the appointment form itself, even while disabled, all remain accessible). “Configure” opens a panel where you can decide category by category.

You can change your mind at any time: the “Manage cookies” link, available at the bottom of any page, reopens the same panel with your current choice. Withdrawing consent for external content removes the loaded map and prevents new connections to Google.

9. Transfers to third countries

When you accept Google Maps external content, your browser connects directly to Google’s servers, which may process data outside the European Economic Area as an independent controller of that processing. Badavet does not send any data to Google on its own: your own browser establishes the connection only after your explicit consent.

The same applies if you accept the «Analytics» category: Google Analytics 4 is provided by Google Ireland Limited, but Google’s infrastructure may process the data outside the European Economic Area, relying on the transfer mechanisms provided for in Chapter V of the Regulation (standard contractual clauses and the supplementary measures Google states it applies). If that transfer concerns you, rejecting the «Analytics» category avoids it entirely: no connection to Google is made.
